IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM SOLAR SANITATION

Picture
Update - June 13, 2025

A critical reminder concerns lithium-ion batteries. These batteries, commonly found in many electronic devices, are considered hazardous materials and must never be placed in household trash. If damaged or improperly disposed of, they can pose a significant fire risk, leading to spontaneous combustion in collection vehicles or waste facilities.

To ensure the safety of our teams and equipment, and to protect our community, please remember that the following items are also strictly prohibited from regular waste disposal:
  • Flammable Products & Liquids: This includes gasoline, oil, and paint cans.
  • Construction & Landscaping Waste: Items like tires, manure, tree stumps, dirt, sod, gravel, stone, rock, and brick.
  • Other Batteries & Hazardous Metals: Lead and acid/wet cell batteries, as well as railroad ties.
  • Medical & Bio-Hazardous Waste: Syringes, needles, toxic materials, and any bio-hazardous materials or waste.
  • Pressurized Gas Containers: Propane, oxygen, or helium tanks, and items containing pressurized gas like Freon.
  • Explosives & Weapons: Explosives, live ammunition, and weapons.
  • Animal Waste: Large quantities of animal waste

What should you do with these items?
Please do not place any of these materials in your regular trash or recycling bins. Instead, we encourage you to visit Pinellas County Hazardous Waste to utilize local hazardous waste drop-off events, specialized recycling centers, or designated collection points in your community. Many municipalities offer specific programs for safe disposal.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe community and a clean environment.

Sincerely,

The Team at Solar Sanitation
